PHILADELPHIA – A Philadelphia business is alleged to have distributed and screened three documentary films without authorization.
Exhibition on Screen LTD filed a complaint on Nov. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Mediacast Holdings LLC, doing business as Specticast, alleging copyright infringement and breach of contract.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff produced the documentary films "Goya," "Renoir," and "Monet to Matisse." The suit states the defendant and plaintiff entered into an agreement for the defendant to show the films in theaters, but the defendant breached the agreement.
The plaintiff holds Mediacast Holdings LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly used the plaintiff's films without authorization and generated more than $250,000 in ticket revenues.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks injunctive relief, enjoin the defendant, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Gene M. Linkmeyer of Linkmeyer Law Group in Bala Cynwyd.
