PHILADELPHIA – A Vermont woman alleges she has been damaged by false information on her credit report.
Elizabeth Hotchkiss filed a complaint on Dec. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Trans Union LLC alleging violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant has been reporting derogatory and inaccurate statements regarding her credit history to third parties. She alleges this information includes a federal tax lien and that she has been denied loans and extensions of credit because of the inaccurate information.
The plaintiff holds Trans Union LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the requirements imposed on a consumer reporting agency.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, statutory damages, punitive damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. She is represented by Mark D. Mailman and Geoffrey H. Baskerville of Francis & Mailman PC in Philadelphia.
