PITTSBURGH – A Pittsburgh man alleges 13 unknown individuals unlawfully accessed his email account.
John Folino filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against John Does 1-13 citing the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on April 28, 2016, he granted Precise Inc. and Eqip Systems Inc. permission to access his Google Gmail account for use in an unrelated matter. He alleges on May 13, 2016, he received notifications that the password for the account was changed and other security notifications. He alleges he did not authorize these changes nor did anyone acting on his behalf.
The plaintiff holds John Does 1-13 responsible because the defendants allegedly accessed plaintiff's account without his consent.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants in an amount to be determined in trial and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Morgan J. Hanson and Lucy E. Hill of Cohen & Grigsby PC in Pittsburgh.
