READING – A Walnutport woman alleges her disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.
Maryellen Sandholm filed a complaint on Dec. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against The Hartford alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, she became disabled and was initially receiving benefits from the defendant's plan. The suit states that the defendant terminated the benefits in March 2017.
The plaintiff holds The Hartford responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision to terminate plaintiff's benefits despite having sufficient medical proof regarding her disability.
The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant to reinstate her disability benefits plus interest and court costs. She is represented by Kevin L. Orloski of Orloski Law Firm in Allentown.
