Man alleges Bucks County Correctional Facility failed to provide prompt medical attention

Medical malpractice 09

PHILADELPHIA – A Springfield man formerly incarcerated at the Bucks County Correctional Facility alleges he was not provided prompt medical attention at the facility.

Michael Farrington filed a complaint on Dec. 29, 2017, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against County of Bucks, Pennsylvania; Bucks County Correctional Facility, et al. citing the 14th Amendment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges on Oct. 16, 2015, he was at the Bucks County Jail System and complained of left knee pain. He alleges he was treated by the defendants with pain relievers and eventually was diagnosed with osteomyelitis, a bone infection, in January 2016. He later had surgery, the suit states.

The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to provide a prompt and appropriate medical evaluation.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendants for compensatory damages, punitive damages, court costs, interest and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Harry J. Oxman of Oxman Goodstadt Kuritz PC in Philadelphia.
