PHILADELPHIA – A BitTorrent user is alleged to have unlawfully distributed digital media files belonging to a California company.

Malibu Media LLC filed a complaint on Jan. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 108.2.96.229 alleging copyright infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant downloaded, copied and distributed a complete copy of plaintiff's movies without authorization.

The plaintiff holds John Doe subscriber assigned IP address 108.2.96.229 responsible because the defendant allegedly used BitTorrent to download and make copies of plaintiff's works and used the same software to distribute said works to other users.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendant, an order for the defendant to delete and remove digital media files relating to the plaintiff's works, statutory damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. It is represented by Alfred Jordan Rushie of Rushie Law PLLC in Philadelphia.
