Man alleges age, nationality factor in termination from Rice Energy Inc.

PITTSBURGH – A Canadian man residing in Pittsburgh alleges a Canonsburg employer wrongfully terminated him.

PITTSBURGH – A Canadian man residing in Pittsburgh alleges a Canonsburg employer wrongfully terminated him.

Kevin Wutherich filed a complaint on Feb. 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against Rice Energy Inc., also known as EQT RE LLC, citing the Age Discrimination in Employment Act and other counts.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff was hired by the defendant as director in completions in May 2015. He alleges he was terminated because he was a whistle-blower. He also alleges his nationality and his age, which is older than 40, were also factors in his termination.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant, compensatory damages, liquidated damages and any further relief the court grants. He is represented by Daniel W. Ernsberger of Behrend & Ernsberger in Pittsburgh.
