PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing QVC Inc. d/b/a QVC for alleged discrimination.
Shanna Augustin filed a complaint on March 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant refused to provide her with proper accommodation so she could pump breast milk for her child.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was subjected to animosity and hostility after she requested breaks in order to be able to pump breast milk for her child. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly refusing to provide her with reasonable breaks so she could pump breast milk throughout her shift.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order prohibiting the defendant from continuing to maintain its illegal policy or practice of discriminating against its employees. She also is seeking liquidated and/or punitive damages, court costs and any further relief this court grants. She is represented by Ari R. Karpf of Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti P.C. in Bensalem, Pa.
