PITTSBURGH — A union is suing a construction company for allegedly failing to make contributions.

Carpenters Combine Funds Inc. filed a complaint on April 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania against G.C. Wall Inc., alleging that the defendant violated the Retirement Income Security Act of 1974.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that after entering into a labor agreement, the defendant was obligated to submit monthly payments for pensions, medical coverage, annuity/savings, apprenticeships and dues for the benefit of its employees covered by the agreement.

However, the plaintiff claims that the defendant failed to make timely payments between July and February, which allegedly caused the union to sustain financial losses.

The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly failing to make timely contributions and wage deductions pursuant to their labor agreement.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks preliminary and permanent injunctions, the payment of $72,517.47, any additional amounts owed, the cost of the suit and any further relief the court deems just. The plaintiff is represented by Jeffrey J. Leech and Neil J. Gregorio of Tucker Arensberg PC in Pittsburgh.
