PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing his former employer, Nestle Purina Petcare Company, for alleged discrimination, retaliation and wrongful termination.

Ronald McLane filed a complaint on April 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act.

"We recently learned that a former employee of the company filed a lawsuit containing accusations of discrimination," a Purina spokesperson said.

"We have investigated and these claims are without merit. We take claims of discrimination – or any employment related issue – very seriously. Such behavior violates our values, which we make clear to our employees. We believe the court will agree with our position."

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was fired form his job because of his serious health conditions. As a result, he claims that he has suffered pain and financial damages. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly discriminating against him and firing him because of his age and/or actual or perceived disabilities and/or because of his request for accommodations.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual, compensatory and punitive damages; costs; expenses; and any other legal and equitable relief that the court deems just. He is represented by Ari R. Karpf of Karpf, Karpf & Cerutti PC in Bensalem.
