PHILADELPHIA — An individual is suing New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Co. d/b/a NJM Insurance Group for allegedly breaching an insurance contract.
Barbara O’Connor filed a complaint on April 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendant breached its duties of good faith and fair dealing.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was involved in a car accident that allegedly was caused by an underinsured motorist. She claims that she sustained permanent injuries and financial losses due to the accident, which allegedly is why she attempted to negotiate a settlement with the defendant. However, she was unsuccessful.
The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly refusing to properly negotiate a reasonable settlement for the injuries and damages that she allegedly sustained.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages in an amount that exceeds $150,000, plus costs, fees and any other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Adam S. Barrist of the Barrist Firm LLC in Bala-Cynwyd.
