HARRISBURG — An individual is suing National Principal Group LLC and Does 1- 10, citing alleged illegal debt collection practices.
Amy Geist filed a complaint on April 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Pennsylvania Fair Credit Extension Uniformity Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants falsely told her mother and sister that they were attempting to reach her regarding "a lawful matter" in an effort to collect an alleged debt. As a result, the plaintiff claims that she has suffered and continues to suffer humiliation, anger, anxiety, emotional distress, fear, frustration and embarrassment. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible for allegedly using false, deceptive or misleading debt collection practices.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, the costs of litigation, attorney’s fees and any other just and proper relief. She is represented by Jody B. Burton of Lemberg Law LLC in Wilton, Conn.
