PHILADELPHIA — A company has filed a lawsuit against Crematory Society of Illinois Inc., Katie Sullivan and Gerald Sullivan for alleged copyright infringement.

Live Face on Web LLC filed a complaint on April 24 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, alleging that the defendants violated the U.S. Copyright Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it is the owner of live-person software and video technology for websites, which it licenses to businesses and individuals for a fee. The plaintiff claims that the defendants unlawfully used, distributed, executed and displayed its software packages for their own benefit and without permission or authorization. As a result, the plaintiff claims that it has suffered and will continue to suffer significant, irreparable harm and losses.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages in the amount of $150,000, plus attorney's fees, costs and any other amount that the court deems proper. The plaintiff is represented by Leonard Zoftis of Velter, Yurovsky & Zoftis LLC in Southampton.
