PHILADELPHIA — A patient is suing Philadelphia Vision Center, claiming she deserved a copy of her prescription.
Alisha M. Alejandro filed a complaint on May 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants alleging that they violated the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in Dec. 8, 2016, she received an eye examination from the defendant's examination center without receiving a copy of the prescription. As result of defendants wrongful conduct, she has been damaged, she claims.
The plaintiff holds Philadelphia Vision Center and co-defendant Bruce Rubin responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to provide a copy of the prescription and demanded she purchase eye frames, and to pay for them in order to obtain the prescription.
They improperly terminated her medical care for refusing to purchase eye glasses, she says.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, attorney's fees, costs and any other injunctive or appropriate relief. She is represented by Paul A. R. Stewart of Helm Legal Service LLC in Philadelphia.
