Woman claims couple allowed underage drinking in their home

PITTSBURGH — A woman is suing Scott Gedman and Elaine Gedman, husband and wife, citing alleged negligence that resulted in underage drinking in their home.

Tess Rossi filed a complaint May 24 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas, alleging that the defendants created an environment that promoted and tolerated underage drinking.

According to the complaint, Rossi consumed alcohol on Aug. 23, 2015 that was provided at the defendants' home. At one point during the night, Rossi claims s he fell down the stairs and hit her head because she was intoxicated. The plaintiff alleged that she suffered closed head injury and right knee injury, contusions, lacerations, facial swelling and permanent facial scarring.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a judgment against the defendants in an amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of arbitration. She is represented by Carlyle J. Engel of Swensen & Perer in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
