Sales counselor claims Nutrisystem fired her because of disability

PHILADELPHIA — A sales counselor is suing Nurtrisystem Inc., citing alleged disability discrimination and wrongful termination.

Alesandra Leiman filed a complaint on Aug. 8, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Nurtrisystem Inc. alleging that the weight loss company violated the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in April, 2017, she was diagnosed with general anxiety disorder and major anxiety disorder. On Aug. 2, 2017 she was terminated from her employment, despite being a qualified individual with disability. The plaintiff holds Nurtrisystem Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly subjected her to adverse employment actions, failed to engage in an interactive process and terminated her due to her disability.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory and punitive damages, attorney's fees, costs and such other equitable and/or injunctive relief. She is represented by David M. Koller and Sarah R. Levelle of Koller Law LLC in Philadelphia.
