PHILADELPHIA — A Bethlehem couple is suing Pacific Sunwear of California, doing business as Pacsun,  citing alleged negligence.

Sheri B. Engelhardt and Steven R. Engelhardt filed a complaint on Aug. 20, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, against Pacific Sunwear of California, doing business as Pacsun, alleging that the lifestyle clothing company failed to keep the interior of the store reasonably safe.

Sheri B. Engelhardt and Steven R. Engelhardt were shopping on Nov. 16, 2016, at the PacSun store when a large heavy sign allegedly fell from the shelf and crashed onto her.

She suffered injuries to her head, neck and right shoulder. The plaintiffs hold Pacific Sunwear of California responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed the sign to be stored in an unsafe manner and allegedly did not warn customers about it.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court, with interest, delay damages and costs. They are represented by John M. Pumphrey of Soloff & Zervanos in Philadelphia.
