PITTSBURGH — A fight at the Ugly Dog bar in Pittsburgh prompted a recent lawsuit by an injured resident.

Victor Olivas filed a complaint on Aug. 1 in the Allegheny County Courts of Common Pleas against 1234 UDS Inc., the bar's parent company, for negligence and violations of the Dram Shop Law.

According to the complaint, bartenders served Olivas multiple drinks until other patrons started a verbal quarrel. Olivas claims a man pushed him into the bar's bouncer, who punched him in the face. The bouncer placed Olivas in a chokehold while the other men beat him, the complaint states.

Olivas alleges the bar should not have over-served him or the patrons. He also holds the bar responsible for not properly supervising employees or calling the police during the incident.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for compensatory and punitive damage in the amount in excess of the jurisdictional limits of the court. He is represented by Keith L. Eliou of Pittsburgh.
