PHILADELPHIA — A government agency is suing Bisconti Farms Inc., citing alleged discrimination and hostile work environment.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a complaint on Sept. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Bisconti Farms Inc., after issuing to the company a notice of failure of conciliation on a charge of discrimination and sexual harassment filed by its employees.

The EEOC says it provided the defendant the opportunity to remedy its unlawful employment practices. The plaintiff says Bisconti Farms Inc. subjected Maris Carmen Hernandez Lopez, Marbella Diaz Betancourt, Rosalia Betancourt Corona and others to unlawful and discriminatory practices and harassment and failed to take prompt and effective action to prevent or correct the workplace discrimination and harassment.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks permanent injunction enjoining the defendant from engaging in discriminatory practices and an order to provide equal employment opportunities and to make aggrieved employees whole again and such other proper and necessary relief and costs of this action. It is represented by James Lee, Gwendolyn Young Reams, Debra Lawrence, Ronald Phillips and Regina Andrew of EEOC.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Case No. is 5:18-cv-04166-MAK.
