PHILADELPHIA — Three individuals are suing Philadelphia police officers, citing alleged assault and deliberate intent.
Karem Webb, Jamal Webb and Dwight Taylor filed a complaint on Oct. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the City of Philadelphia and Police Officers Jefferey Walker, Thomas Liciardello, Brian P. Reynolds, Lindwood Norman, John Speiser and Michael Spicer, alleging the defendants prepared and caused to be prepared police paperwork misrepresenting events that led to the arrest of Kareem Webb for an incident he did not committ.
According to the complaint, on July 12, 2010, plaintiff Kareem Webb was present with his brother, Jamal Webb, and other family members inside his resident when defendants allegedly executed a raid in his residence.
Plaintiffs claims during the raid, defendant police officers planted drugs and drug paraphernalia inside of Kareem Webb's resident that led to his arrest, resulting in him being found guilty and serving 18 months probation.
The plaintiffs hold responsible the City of Philadelphia and police officers Jefferey Walker, Thomas Liciardello, Brian P. Reynolds, Lindwood Norman, John Speiser and Michael Spicer because they allegedly intentionally and unlawfully instituted criminal proceedings against plaintiff without probable cause and with malice.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment for compensatory and punitive damages, plus interest, injunctive relief and such other relief as appears reasonable and just. They are represented by Eric Spade of The Spade Law Firm, LLC in Philadelphia.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Case No. is 2:18-cv-04380-PD.
