PITTSBURGH — A widow is suing Vector Security Inc., an electronic security company, citing alleged negligence and strict product liability.

Patricia Williamson filed a complaint Nov. 13 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Vector Security Inc., alleging the electronic security company's fire alarm system installed at the plaintiff's residence failed to operate during the time it was needed.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 18, 2017, a fire occurred at their residence but the defendant's alarm system malfunctioned. Plaintiffs did not receive the proper warning and have the opportunity to escape the fire. Plaintiff's husband suffered from asphyxiation and/or thermal injuries, which caused his death. The plaintiff holds Vector Security Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactured and installed a defective alarm system.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an amount in excess of $35,000. She is represented by Michael Balzarini of Balzarini & Watson in Pittsburgh.

The Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County Case No. is GD-18-014819.
