PITTSBURGH — A consumer has filed a class action lawsuit against Audit Systems Inc., a debt collector, citing alleged unfair and abusive debt collection practices.

Melissa Travis filed a complaint on Dec. 6 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on behalf of herself individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated against Audit Systems Inc., alleging the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 6, 2017, as a result of defendant's misleading collection practices, plaintiff has been harassed and abused. The plaintiff holds Audit Systems Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly sent communication letters in an attempt to induce payment on an alleged debt.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, attorney's fees, reimbursement, costs and expenses and such other just and proper relief. She is represented by Eugene Frank of The Law Offices of Eugene D. Frank PC in Pittsburgh.

The Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas Case No. is 18-16034.
