Parents sue daughter's alleged attacker, those who secured his release from custody

PHILADELPHIA — A parent is suing South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit, Bonsall Manfredi & Associates PC and some individuals, citing alleged gross negligence and deliberate indifference.

Vyneeka Hopkins, as parent and natural guardian of C.A., a minor filed a complaint on Dec. 12 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging they negligently recommended the release of Jamir Hill from custody.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that C.A. sustained life-threatening physical and psychological injuries at the hands of defendant Hill. She has suffered and will continue to suffer from severe emotional and psychological, physical and financial harm, the suit says. 

The plaintiff holds South Mountain Secure Treatment Unit, Nicole Yesser, Bonsall Manfredi & Associates PC, Rocco Manfredi, and Jamir Hill responsible because defendant Hill physical assaulted, sexually abused, raped and left for dead C.A. in the tall weeds behind her home.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages against defendants in an amount in excess of $75,000, including costs, interest, attorney’s fees and such other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Robert Ross and Joshua Van Naarden of Ross Feller Casey LLP in Philadelphia.
