PHILADELPHIA — A special education teacher is suing the School District of Philadelphia and Shauneille Taylor, citing alleged discrimination and wrongful termination.
Ines S. Zohni filed a complaint on Dec. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the defendants, alleging they violated the Pennsylvania Human Rights Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 13, 2014, she was terminated from her employment. She has suffered loss of earnings and benefits, pain and suffering, emotional anguish, and loss of life's pleasures, the suit claims.
The plaintiff says the defendants allegedly failed to provide reasonable accommodation, harassed and treated her differently and terminated her employment because of her disability and/or ancestry.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks reinstatement to her prior position, award for compensatory damages, costs, attorney's fees and such other just and appropriate relief. She is represented by Mark Scheffer of Birchrunville.
The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Case No. is 2:18-cv-05644-JD.
