PHILADELPHIA — A Delaware County resident is suing the United States of America, citing alleged negligence.

Debra E. London filed a complaint on Jan. 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the United States of America, alleging the defendant allowed a dangerous or hazardous condition to remain in a public area.

According to the complaint, on Dec. 9, 2015, London was walking from her home when she tripped over a "pole stump" that was left in the ground when defendant's U.S. Postal Service employees allegedly removed a sign directing the public to the U.S. Post Office located on Southwest Corner of Chester Pike.

Plaintiff claims defendant ignored the "pole stump" after the sign was knocked down or removed by an unknown person or persons, leaving the "pole stump" in the ground.

The plaintiff holds United States of America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to remove a "pole stump" from the ground after the sign post it held was removed or knocked down, leaving a hazardous condition for pedestrians near a public bus stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for damages in an amount in excess of $150,000, together with court costs and counsel fees as allowed by law. She is represented by F. Kirk Adams of Adams Kearney LLC in Ridley Park.

The U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania Case No. is 2:19-cv-00071-JS.
