SCRANTON — A couple are suing Regional Hospital of Scranton and other health care providers, citing alleged negligence.

Martin and Kathy Snyder filed a complaint on Jan. 9 in the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas, alleging the health care providers negligently deviated from the appropriate standards of medical care.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on July 24, 2017, Martin Snyder underwent right ear surgery performed by defendants' agents. As a result of their negligent actions, he suffered devastating injuries to the nerves, vessels and vital organs that left him permanently disabled, he says.

He was forced to close his medical practice, the suit says. Kathy Snyder allegedly suffered loss of consortium and service of her husband. The plaintiffs say the defendants failed to provide proper positioning and padding and failed to prevent trauma and/or pressure to Martin Snyder's left arm and ulnar nerve and other parts of the body affecting his left arm.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendants, jointly and severally, in an amount exceeding $50,000, plus interest and costs. They are represented by Joel Feller and Ryan Chase of Ross Feller Casey LLP in Philadelphia.

The Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas Case No. is 19-cv-83.
