Lawsuit: Ground collapsed as woman got off bus, trapping her foot and breaking ankle

PITTSBURGH – An Allegheny County woman who allegedly fractured her ankle after the ground collapsed beneath her when exiting a bus is seeking damages from the property owner.

Danette Evans filed a complaint in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Blackwells LLC alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the defendant maintains a store and property on Shadeland Avenue in Pittsburgh. The plaintiff alleges on Jan. 18, 2018, she got off of the bus on her way home from work. She alleges she stepped onto the ground and it collapsed under her foot, trapping her leg in a hole and fracturing her ankle.

The plaintiff alleges the defendant allowed or created a dangerous condition on the property and did not provide warning.

The plaintiff is seeking all reasonable sums due, attorney fees and court costs. The plaintiff is represented by Mark A. Smith of The Law Office of Mark A. Smith.
