West Penn Health faces suit from RN who was allegedly sexually assaulted by doctor

State Court

PITTSBURGH – A registered nurse who worked at West Penn Allegheny Health System claims she was sexually assaulted by a doctor who was one of her co-workers and her clinical training supervisor.

Jane Doe filed a complaint  Dec. 5 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against West Penn Allegheny Health System alleging violation of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act.

The suit states Doe was working as an RN in a department at West Penn which Dr. Entezam Asim Sahovic, director of the Stem Cell Transplant Program, oversaw.

She alleges in her complaint that on Sept. 4, 2015, she and Sahovic met at a restaurant to celebrate the end of her finals and both consumed alcohol. She alleges she offered to let Sahovic sleep at her house in a separate room to "sober up" and claims that he came into her room while she was sleeping and proceeded to sexually assault her.

She also alleges West Penn took no action or investigated Sahovic despite the pending criminal charges against him.

She had sued Sahovic in 2016 following his guilty plea to indecent assault without the consent of other. That lawsuit settled earlier this year.

Doe seeks compensation for past and future lost benefits and wages, a trial by jury and all other just and proper relief. She is represented by Nicole Daller in Pittsburgh and Vicki Kuftic Horne.
