PHILADELPHIA – A Bethel Berks couple are suing the manufacturer of their Cub Cadet lawn tractor after it allegedly caught on fire and caused damage to their property.

Rickie Luckenbill and Susan Farnsworth-Luckenbill filed a complaint Jan. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against MTD Consumer Group Inc. alleging negligence, strict liability and breach of warranties.

The Luckenbills purchased a Cub Cadet lawn tractor manufactured by MTD on April 13, 2018. They allege that shortly after using the tractor, it became "engulfed in fire," causing damage to their real and personal property. The Luckenbills claim the fire was due to a malfunction from the lawn tractor.

The Luckenbills seek monetary relief of more than $75,000, a trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Patrick Hughes and Kenneth Levine of deLuca Levine LLC in Blue Bell.
