Man sues Pittsburgh elevator company after he suffered injuries while exiting lift

PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh-based elevator company is facing a negligence claim from a man alleging he suffered injuries when the elevator he was exiting did not line up properly with its landing. 

William and Barbara Charles filed a complaint  in the Allegheny Court of Common Pleas of against Hadfield Elevator Co., alleging negligence.

William Charles was working for McKinney Properties at an apartment building in Carnegie on July 26, 2019. He alleges that the elevator he was exiting did not line up correctly and stopped several inches above the landing. Charles claims he fell forward, was slammed against a wall and landed on the floor outside of the elevator, which caused him to suffer injuries. He also claims Hadfield had performed maintenance on the elevator the day prior to his alleged accident.

Charles seeks monetary damages and all other just relief. He is represented by Andrew Flenner of The Romanow Law Group in Pittsburgh.
