Post office faces lawsuit over alleged fall in Southhampton

PHILADELPHIA — A couple are suing the U.S. Postal Service after a man allegedly tripped on a floor runner at a Southhampton Post Office and suffered injuries. 

Lou and Paula Broder filed a compliant  April 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against the U.S. Postal Service alleging negligence.

Lou Broder was in the U.S. Post Office in Southhampton on Dec. 24, 2018, to purchase stamps. He alleges that as he left the vendor window, he tripped on a rolled up floor runner and fell. Broder alleges he suffered ligament tears to his shoulder and other injuries. 

Broder seeks monetary relief of more than $150,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by Brandon Swartz and Matthew Gallagher of Swartz Culleton in Newtown.
