PITTSBURGH — Several parents and their children are suing the Carnegie Museum of Natural History and others after allegedly suffering injuries when the elevator they were in suddenly dropped.

Malisa Delions, Amaruioin Clark, a minor, and others filed a complaint in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against Carnegie Institute doing business as Carnegie Museum of Natural History, Westinghouse Licensing Corporation doing business as Otis Elevator and Schindler Elevator Corporation alleging negligence.

The plaintiffs were at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History on Oct. 28, 2017. They allege that while riding an elevator at the museum, it suddenly dropped down and halted between floors and caused them to be thrown to the floor and walls of the elevator. They claim that after being trapped for more than an hour, they had to be rescued with a ladder through the elevator's ceiling. The plaintiffs allege they suffered injuries including sprains and fractures as well as back and neck injuries.

The plaintiffs seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Kevin Burger of Friday & Cox LLC in Pittsburgh.
