PITTSBURGH - A Coraopolis woman filed civil charges against the Cigna Healthcare facility on Park Lane Drive in Pittsburgh after she says she contracted Legionnaire's disease from the facility's water fountain.

According to documents filed in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on Feb. 18, Rose Ann Pruszenski, was working on the Cigna building through her employer, St. Moritz Building Services, when a "defective and/or dangerous condition of the premises" exposed Pruszenski to the facility's water supply, through which she contracted the disease.

The suit says the facility allowed the water to be in a dangerous condition for a prolonged period of time, failed to inspect the premises to recognize the defect and failed to remove the bacteria responsible for the disease.

The plaintiff is suing the facility for the alleged negligence that caused her condition, her medical expenses and her loss of life; she is demanding judgement in excess of $35,000.

Pruszenski is represented by Anthony Giannetti of Swartz Culleton, PC, of Pittsburgh.
