PITTSBURGH - After a toddler was allegedly abused in a church's daycare center, a Pittsburgh family filed a lawsuit in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas.
The complaint was filed in April by plaintiffs Jeffrey and Elizabeth Hogan individually and on behalf of their daughter, who is less than three years old.
On April 24, 2019, the family visited the defendant, Calvary Full Gospel Church of Bridgeville, and placed their daughter in the Kingdom Care Learning Center childcare portion of the church.
The complaint states that defendant Kimberly Seibel of Carnegie was an employee of the daycare center and was working alone for a length of time watching the children.
Seibel, agitated and spent after working for several hours alone, allegedly became annoyed with the children when they wouldn't go to sleep. The defendant allegedly began throwing books at the children, including the plaintiffs' daughter, and picked up the toddler by her arm and leg and violently threw her down to the ground several times.
The complaint says that Seibel's actions were recorded on video.
The toddler suffered severe bruising and childhood development regression, according to the suit.
The defendants are charged with battery, assault, negligence, negligent hiring, supervision and retention and respondeat superior.
The plaintiffs are represented by Kontos Mengine Killion and Hassen of Pittsburgh.
