Man sues Aston bar, says he was sucker-punched in parking lot

MEDIA - An Aston man wants payback from the Red Zone Bar and Grill after he says he was randomly sucker-punched while walking past an altercation in the bar's parking lot.

The complaint was filed on May 6 in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas by plaintiff Christopher Devine against the bar's owner, Three Buddies LLC and Joseph Deldeo of Linwood.

According to the complaint, Devine was at the bar with his friends on June 23, 2019. The group was asked to leave for reasons not described.

As the plaintiff and his friends were exiting the location, a fight broke out in the parking lot. Devine says he was not participating and was standing a distance away from the fight, and alleges that defendant Deldeo randomly and without provocation snuck up from behind Devine and sucker-punched him, knocking the plaintiff unconscious.

Deldeo then allegedly walked away laughing. He was later charged with aggravated and simple assault for the attack, the suit says.

Devine alleges that the Red Zone bouncers present did nothing to break up the fight or protect the plaintiff from the random assault.

The plaintiff suffered a broken jaw and several other injuries, he says.

The defendants are charged with assault and battery, punitive damages, negligence and breach of duty of care. Devine requests at least $200,000 in damages.

The plaintiff is represented by Robert J. Bush.
