MEDIA - A Muslim woman from Eddystone sued Pat's Pizza Family Restaurant in Holmes after the restaurant allegedly gave her food that contained pork in error.
The complaint was filed in the Delaware County Court of Common Pleas by plaintiff Tiana Rhedrick, who is Muslim and had never consumed pork as part of her religion prior to January 17, 2020, when she says she ordered delivery from the defendant.
Rhedrick says she informed the restaurant that she is not permitted to eat pork per her religion to emphasize her food restriction. Despite this, the defendant allegedly delivered the wrong order and Rhedrick did not realize it until she had consumed pork.
The plaintiff says she suffered serious psychological injury as a result.
The defendant is charged with negligence and negligent infliction of emotional distress, totaling at least $150,000 in damages requested.
Rhedrick is represented by Furia and Turner LLC.
