PITTSBURGH — A couple allege the husband suffered multiple injuries after his bicycle hit a cable laying on a bike path in Pittsburgh while commuting to work.

Mike Dillon and Gina Dillon filed a complaint Aug. 4 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against City of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority alleging negligence.

According to the plaintiffs' complaint, Mike Dillon was commuting to work on his bicycle on June 30, 2021. They allege that he came upon an "affixed cable or hose channel" that ran across the width of the bike lane which caused him to crash his bike.

The plaintiffs claim Dillon suffered a fractured clavicle, contusions and muscle strains, injury to his shoulder and arm and other serious injuries. They allege the defendants were negligent for failing to keep the bike lane in a safe condition, failing to inspect the bike lane and "intentionally and willfully" created the dangerous condition on the bike lane. The Dillons further allege the defendants failed to post any signs to warn of the hazard and were negligent in their construction and maintenance of the bike lane which posed a risk of injury.

The Dillons seek monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. They are represented by Attorney Matthew Dolfi of Dolfi Law PC in Pittsburgh.
