PITTSBURGH — A temp agency worker who was injured on a job site when a building roof suddenly collapsed is claiming negligence.

Chaz Johnson filed a complaint Aug. 31 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against American Carpet South Inc., alleging negligence.

According to his complaint, Johnson was employed by People Ready and was hired to work at the American Carpet South's warehouse on Aug. 3, 2021. He alleges that while dusting the top of a nine foot-high building located inside the warehouse, the roof of the building suddenly gave way and caused him to suffer injuries to his lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine.

Johnson also alleges he suffered deformity, severe and substantial scarring, loss of well being and other damages. He claims the defendants failed to provide him with appropriate fall protection in accordance with OSHA standards, failed to inspect and maintain the roof or warn workers of the dangers. Johnson further claims American Carpet failed to properly train, supervise or regulate the work being done on its premises.

Johnson seeks monetary relief of more than $35,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Anthony Giannetti of Swartz Culleton PC in Pittsburgh.
