PITTSBURGH — A telemedicine company is facing a lawsuit alleging one of its employees suffered age and race discrimination and was fired a week after complaining.

Roxanne Robinson filed a complaint Oct. 1 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against UPMC Enterprises and Infectious Disease Connect Inc., alleging discrimination.

Robinson, who was 61 years old at the time, alleges that she was the only African-American employed by Infectious Disease Connect and began working as a manager of credentialing services for the company in September of 2019. She alleges that in October of 2020, she began to work under a new, younger supervisor who was an Asian-American and began to face "disparate treatment."

Specifically, Robinson claims she was given an increased workload with unreasonable deadlines, denied pay increases and passed up for promotions all in an effort to terminate her employment. She further claims she reported race and age discrimination in March of 2021, and that seven days later she was terminated. Robinson alleges her discriminatory treatment violated her civil rights.

Robinson seeks monetary relief of more than $35,000, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by David Kobylinski of the Praetorian Law Group LLC in Pittsburgh.
