PITTSBURGH — A man alleges he suffered carbon monoxide poisoning from a vehicle that was allowed to be left idling at a storage facility.
Donald El Parran filed a recent complaint in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas against Storexpress Turtle Creek LLC and 1210 Airbake Avenue LLC alleging negligence and premises liability.
Parran, according to his complaint, was at the defendants' storage facility on March 8, 2020. He alleges that while on the premises, there was carbon monoxide fumes from an idling vehicle that was inside an unventilated area in the storage facility.
Parran further alleges there were no open windows or doors, no fans to circulate air flow and no signs posted to warn customers "of a no idle zone" in the storage facility. He claims as a result of the carbon monoxide exposure, he suffered chest pain, headache, nausea, and other injuries which required hospitalization.
He further claims the defendants' negligence for causing the hazardous condition, allowing customers to store vehicles on the premises without proper ventilation and for negligently designing, constructing and maintaining its premises. The plaintiff alleges the defendants also negligently failed to inspect the premises and remove or cordon off the unsafe condition.
Parran seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by Christopher Halesey of Woomer & Talarico LLC in Pittsburgh.
