MEDIA — A woman alleges a phlebotomist damaged her nerves while she was having blood drawn at a LabCorp facility in Ridley Park.

Rahneisha Barrett filed a complaint Nov. 16 in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County against Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings and LabCorp alleging negligence.

Barrett, according to her complaint, was getting blood work done at LabCorp on West Chester Pike in Ridley Park on Nov. 23, 2019. She alleges that at the "moment of the venipuncture," she began to have intense pain, burning in her hand and her arm went numb. Barrett claims LabCorp's phlebotomist "improperly and/or excessively" manipulated the needle and injured her nerves.

She also claims LabCorp failed to properly treat her in an "appropriate medical manner," and that they failed to have qualified employees or to properly train their employees. Barrett alleges LabCorp also failed to have procedures and policies to ensure safe venipunctures.

Barrett seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. She is represented by Matthew Cole of Aivazoglou & Mikropoulos in Eddystone.
