MEDIA — A former inmate alleges he suffered multiple injuries while on kitchen duty at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton.

Alleem Borden filed a complaint Jan. 20 in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County against GEO Secure Services LLC and OLA Sadiq alleging negligence.

Borden, according to his complaint, was an inmate at George W. Hill Correctional Facility in Thornton. He alleges that on Nov. 23, 2021, he was working in the kitchen and was told by the kitchen supervisor, Sadiq, to stand on a meal cart in order to clean the tops of the ovens.

Borden claims as he was on the cart cleaning the ovens, the cart rolled and caused him to fall to the floor and suffer injuries to his head, neck and back. He alleges the defendants' negligence for failing to provide a ladder, failing to secure the meal cart and for failing to protect him from physical harm.

Borden further alleges the defendants failed to warn him of the danger or intervene to stop the harm. He also claims he was rendered unconscious due to his fall and was taken to the hospital for injuries to his eye, wrist as well as for soft tissue damage and also suffered bruising and abrasions.

Borden seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000 and all other just relief. He is represented by James Famiglio PC in Media.
