SCRANTON — An Airbnb guest is claiming negligence after slipping on a snow- and ice-covered driveway.

Elizabeth Sanner filed a complaint Feb. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania against Airbnb Inc, Evolve Vacation Rental, Elona Lopari and Xhemali Lopari alleging liability and negligence.

Sanner was a guest at an Airbnb on Skyline Drive in Blakeslee on Feb. 7, 2021. She claims while on the premises, she suddenly slipped and fell due to the driveway being covered with snow and ice and suffered "grievous" injuries.

Sanner alleges the defendants failed to correct the hazardous condition, failed to properly inspect and maintain the premises or warn of the unsafe conditions on the premises. She further alleges the defendants did not provide access to snow removal and or anti-ice materials on the premises and did not advise rental guests to bring those materials.

Sanner claims the defendants knew or should have known about the defective conditions and failed to provide a safe and hazard-free environment for guests. She also claims as a result of her slip and fall, she suffered an ankle fracture as well as injuries to her leg which required two surgeries.

Sanner seeks monetary relief interest and all other just relief. She is represented by James Hokenberry of The Law Office of Leon Aussprung MD LLC in Philadelphia.
