PHILADELPHIA — A Bloomingdale's worker is claiming negligence after tripping over a misplaced ladder in the store's stock room.

Angeliki N. Rengepes filed a complaint May 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Bloomingdale's Inc., alleging negligence.

Rengepes was working at Bloomingdale's at the Willow Grove Park Mall on Moreland Road on Oct. 28, 2020, according to her complaint. She claims she was working in the stock room of the store when she tripped over a "misplaced" ladder and suffered injuries.

Rengepes alleges Bloomingdale's negligence for creating a tripping hazard with the misplaced and difficult-to-see ladder in an area where employees walk. She also alleges Bloomingdale's was negligent for failing to make the stock room safe and for not having appropriate barriers or markers to prevent tripping.

Rengepes claims Bloomingdale's was also negligent for failing to have proper lighting in the stock room and store. She alleges as a result of the accident, she suffered injuries to her head, neck, spine, back, shoulders and other parts of her body.

Rengepes seeks monetary relief of more than $50,000, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by Daniel Doyle of Brooks, Bradley & Doyle in Media.
