MEDIA — An attorney alleges a libelous Google business review has caused her to lose potential clients.

Ames Law Group LLC filed a complaint May 2 in the Court of Common Pleas of Delaware County against Jacob Zumoff alleging libel and other claims.

According to the plaintiff's complaint, Zumoff consulted with Patricia Ames of the Ames Law Group on April 12, 2022. The plaintiff alleges that the consultation included discussion of the uploading of documents through mycase.com and that Zumoff elected to bring his case documents to the law office in person.

The plaintiff claims Zumoff became combative with the law office receptionist and caused her to feel nervous and threatened. The plaintiff further claims she elected not to work with Zumoff and notified him via email that he needed to find another attorney.

According to the plaintiff's complaint, Zumoff began to send Ames harassing emails and also left libelous and defamatory statements and ratings of her law practice on her Google business page. The plaintiff alleges Zumoff's libelous review has lowered her Google rating and will permanently affect her business and deter prospective clients. She further alleges Zumoff's review was intended to cause her financial loss and has caused a decline in her scheduled consultations.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief of $500,000, trial by jury and all other just relief.
