PITTSBURGH — A man alleges in a pro se complaint that he lost money due to a wager based on a NewsNet broadcast's misrepresentation about the Stanley Cup Finals.

Alexander Argentina filed a pro se complaint June 10 in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County against NewsNet alleging fraud and other claims.

Argentina alleges in his complaint that on June 3, 2022, he placed a wager on the Stanley Cup Finals based on a NewsNet broadcast. He alleges NewsNet stated in its broadcast that the "Tampa Bay Lighting did not have anything to worry about" and that the team was 18-0 following Game One losses in the playoffs. Argentina says the team was only 17-0 in those situations.

The Lightning lost to the Carolina Hurricanes on June 3 in Game Three of their series. Tampa Bay had won the first two games.

Argentina seeks monetary relief, trial by jury and all other just relief.
