Fox Rothschild LLP congratulates firm partners Terrence M. Kerwin and Jana Volante Walshak who were selected to The Legal Intelligencer’s 2023 list of Lawyers on the Fast Track, which celebrates the “next generation of legal leaders.” The firm also received recognition for its Diversity Initiative.

Kerwin, a member of the firm's Emerging Companies & Venture Capital Practice Group and co-chair of the Technology Practice Group, is resident in Fox’s Exton, PA office. Kerwin advises start-up and growth-stage companies from formation to exit, including with respect to entity structure and governance, commercial contracts, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions.
Walshak, a member of the firm’s Litigation Department in the Pittsburgh office, serves as a trusted legal adviser to companies and individuals, addressing their legal challenges to help them eliminate obstacles, reduce risk and seize opportunity. She is well-versed in white-collar criminal defense and compliance as well as in commercial litigation, with experience at trial.
Walshak also co-chairs the firm's Health Care Industry group, an initiative that focuses holistically on the needs of health care sector clients, in particular residential health care facilities.
The Professional Excellence Awards also recognized “lawyers and law firms who made a significant contribution to diversity and inclusion efforts in Pennsylvania’s legal community in the past year.”
Fox named Kimberly Bullock Gatling its first Chief Diversity and Inclusion officer in 2020 and has since implemented several key initiatives to advance the firm’s DEI efforts. In 2022, the firm initiated a new sponsorship program for associates who identify as members of underrepresented groups to enhance Fox’s efforts surrounding retention and equitable support of their professional growth and development.
The firm also received several DEI-related certifications and recognitions. It earned Mansfield Certification through participation in Diversity Lab’s Mansfield Rule 5.0 program and was included in Bloomberg Law’s 2022 list of law firms that meet or exceed an established threshold of diversity, equity and inclusion. Fox was also among the firms recognized as “Tipping the Scales” during the Diversity and Flexibility Alliance’s Annual Conference for having 50% or more women in its 2022 U.S.-based new partner class.
