HARRISBURG - A woman who visited The Hotel Hershey, only to wake up in a room full of smoke is suing Hershey, claiming its smoke detectors didn't work properly.

Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, along with several unidentified defendants, are facing a lawsuit filed March 11 in Dauphin County Court of Common Pleas by Laurie O’Donnell-Saturno and Nicademo C. Saturno.

The case is being handled by Brandon A. Swartz of Swartz Culleton PC.

O'Donnell-Saturno says she was sleeping in her hotel room on March 11, 2023, when she was awoken to a smoky room. She blames an improperly maintained and/or installed smoke detector for not warning her earlier.

She also claims negligent maintenance of the hotel's heating system that is believed to have started the fire. She claims injuries from inhaling smoke and other substances.
