The Legal Intelligencer has recognized Troutman Pepper’s Joan Arnold, Andrew Medeiros, and Zachary Torres-Fowler with three Pennsylvania Legal Awards, and the firm and Partner Deborah Spranger are finalists in three additional categories. All winners will be announced at a May 15 awards dinner.
The annual awards program honors attorneys and firms that have left an indelible mark on the legal community in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and beyond through their unwavering dedication to the profession.
Winners:
Distinguished Leader - Joan ArnoldJoan Arnold, partner and chair of the firm’s Tax + Benefits practice, was awarded the Distinguished Leader award, which recognizes lawyers and legal professionals who achieved impressive results in the past year and demonstrated clear leadership skills that helped them achieve those results. Arnold is a leader both at Troutman Pepper and within the global international tax community who has been a driving force for the advancement of tax administration, the development of international tax, and the promotion of diversity in the tax bar.
Lawyers on the Fast Track (Large Firm) - Zachary Torres-FowlerZach Torres-Fowler is a partner in Troutman Pepper’s Construction practice, a leader in its International Dispute Resolution practice, and co-leader of the firm’s International Construction Projects practice. He was recognized as a next-generation lawyer and received the Lawyer on the Fast Track award for his exceptional legal skills and leadership, most notably for his efforts to develop and expand the firm’s presence in the field of international arbitration.
Unsung Heroes - Andrew MedeirosTroutman Pepper’s Director of Innovation Andrew Medeiros received the Unsung Heroes award for his work on the firm’s generative AI assistant, Athena. Medeiros was part of a multi-office team of attorneys and technologists working behind-the-scenes to ensure the tool’s seamless adoption across the firm. Medeiros is specifically recognized for his leadership in identifying compelling technology vendors to pilot multiple use cases of the tool.

Law Firm Innovators - Troutman PepperTroutman Pepper is a finalist for the Law Firm Innovators award, which recognizes law firms, lawyers, and legal professionals who push the envelope to build their businesses. The firm is shortlisted for being among the first law firms to launch and fully adopt a bespoke generative AI tool, Athena. More than 675 employees across all firm offices use the AI assistant, and it receives an average of 400 prompts per day.
Most-Effective Dealmakers - Deborah SprangerTroutman Pepper Partner Deborah Spranger has decades of experience leading deal teams for public, private, and international companies in the life sciences, manufacturing, health care, and technology industries. Spranger is shortlisted for a Most-Effective Dealmaker award, which recognizes attorneys not only for the quantity and dollar value of deals handled but also for their ability to earn repeat business by achieving their clients’ goals so that both sides sign on the dotted lines.
