PITTSBURGH - A sudden jolt from a kickstand sent an e-bike and its rider into a curb, an Allegheny County lawsuit says.

A lawsuit was filed March 19 against Rumble Motors, LLC by Eric Jones and Monique Lucille Jones in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County. The couple are represented by Bianca DiNardo and William Goodrich from Goodrich & Geist, P.C.

The complaint alleges that Rumble Motors, a California-based company that designs, manufactures, markets, services, and sells electric motorbikes and bicycles, regularly conducts business in Allegheny County.

The Joneses purchased an e-bike on Nov. 1, 2021, for more than $2,400. But in July 2022, Eric was riding it on Woods Run Ave. when the kickstand suddenly sprung into action, the suit says.

When the kickstand hit the road it "Threw the bike and... Jones, from the electric bicycle and violently crashed into the curb and a guardrail" and violently landed on the ground, the suit says.

Eric broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg and broke his left ankle, plus a vertebrae fracture, the suit claims.
